As a Pfister Café Host you will greet and escort guests to tables in the restaurant maintaining a courteous and efficient operation of the dining room to ensure superior guest satisfaction.
Built in 1893, The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee has been a hotel icon for nearly 130 years. As one of the best hotels in Milwaukee and the Midwest, we continue to celebrate a grand tradition of gracious service and impeccable style. The Pfister Hotel has received AAA Four Diamond hotel status for 46 consecutive years. The hotel is one of only 11 properties throughout North America to maintain the AAA Four Diamond designation since the inception of the Diamond Rating program in 1976.
What you will be doing:
•Receive, record, and make any necessary arrangements for reservations and special functions in the restaurant.
•Meet and greet guests as they arrive. Ensure even distribution of tables for each server.
•Verbally communicate to server the table number sat and the number of guests.
•Escort guests to tables, hand them menus, wine list, and inform guests of specials.
•Beverage table if needed and/or time allows.
•Clean and display proper menus before, during, and after shift.
•Assist with all to-go orders.
•Assist wait staff and bus staff as needed and perform other duties as assigned per Manager.
What we are looking for:
•No prior experience required. Prior hospitality experience preferred.
•Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
•Ability to read, speak, and write the English language, to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, and reservations.
•Maintain a clean environment and ensure area is always organized.
•Ability to remember, recite, and promote a variety of menu items.
•Ability to move through a crowded room to seat guests.
•Ability to multi-task.
•Ability to work POS system and cash handling experience preferred.
