Marcus Hotels & Resorts currently seeks a Market Hotel Controller/Director of Finance to support our two upscale properties in the beautiful city of El Paso, the DoubleTree by Hilton and Courtyard by Marriott, Downtown. Both hotels are market leaders in both occupancy and guest satisfaction.

 

This opportunity requires a hands on business partner and offers the unique challenge and opportunity to support two of the hotel industries most historic and successful brand families. As Hotel Controller/Director of Finance, responsibilities would include, but not be limited to:
 

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for providing consistent leadership in the financial area of the hotels by focusing on the profitability.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements including profitability analysis and development and implementation of action plan/s to correct areas of deficiency.
  • Responsible for managing and communicating cash flow related issues, including the timely preparation of cash flow statements, management of receivables, payables, cash balances, control mechanisms, payroll and timely deposits of funds.
  • Ensure hotel compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements and the reporting of all operational taxes.
  • Timely and accurate reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts including bank reconciliations.
  • Review and continually audit all internal financial controls including purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, inventories, hotel assets and payroll.
  • Review accuracy of daily reports and income audit.
  • Provide management with operational reports.
  • Assist departments in planning and completion of yearly operation and capital budgets.
  • Responsible for oversight of night audit and accounting team members.
  • Ability to train and develop accounting staff for increased responsibility and advancement.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Knowledge of and/or experience in/with a decentralized accounting environment.
  • Solid training in all areas of accounting from A/P, A/R, general ledger, audit, inventory control, payroll, budgeting, costing, P&L preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience as a hotel Controller, Assistant Controller or similar role, or 2 - 4 years progressive experience in accounting with responsibility for preparation of financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • 4 year college degree with an accounting/finance major.
