Maintenance Technician (Part-Time)

The Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center is seeking a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Technician to help keep our hotel safe, comfortable, functional, and looking its best. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in quality work, and can move confidently from preventative maintenance to troubleshooting and guest service.

From guest rooms and public spaces to the building systems behind the scenes, you’ll play an important role in creating a reliable, well-maintained environment for our guests and associates.

Schedule & Pay

·    Pay range: $16 - $18/hour, commensurate with experience

·    Part-time position, averaging 30 hours or less per week

·    Non-exempt, overtime eligible position

·    Primary schedule will be Thursday - Sunday, flexing between 1st and 2nd shifts and including some weekends and holidays

What You’ll Do

As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll respond to day-to-day maintenance needs, complete preventative maintenance, troubleshoot building and equipment issues, and help ensure the property remains safe, functional, and guest-ready.

Responsibilities include:

·    Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and exterior areas

·    Troubleshoot and complete minor repairs involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, refrigeration, lighting, televisions, phones, locks, and related building systems

·    Repair and maintain furniture, fixtures, doors, windows, cabinets, walls, and other property finishes

·    Complete painting, patching, finishing, and other general carpentry or cosmetic repairs as needed

·    Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on building systems, equipment, guest rooms, and fixtures

·    Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests and guest concerns

·    Identify safety hazards and take appropriate action to protect guests and associates

·    Use hand tools, power tools, meters, torches, leak-detection equipment, and other maintenance equipment safely and correctly

·    Maintain clean, organized, and safe engineering work areas

·    Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures, safety requirements, SDS information, and hotel Fire, Safety, Security, and Environmental standards

·    Communicate clearly with Engineering leadership and other hotel departments regarding repairs, priorities, and completed work

·    Complete work orders, preventative maintenance records, and other required documentation

·    Perform other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is dependable, safety-minded, service-oriented, and comfortable working independently while also being part of a collaborative hotel team.

Ideal candidates will have:

·    High school diploma or equivalent preferred

·    Previous experience in hotel engineering, facilities, industrial, apartment/property maintenance, construction, repair, or a related technical field preferred

·    Working knowledge of basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, and general repair practices

·    Ability to troubleshoot problems, determine an appropriate course of action, and complete repairs safely

·    Ability to read and interpret maintenance instructions, safety information, procedural manuals, and technical documentation

·    Ability to safely use hand and power tools and related maintenance equipment

·    Strong communication skills and a professional, guest-focused approach

·    Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and respond effectively to changing needs

·    Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as scheduled

·    A positive attitude and willingness to support the team

Technical certifications or specialized trade experience are a plus, but not required.
