Network Engineer II
Marcus Hotels & Resorts is looking for a talented Network Engineer II to join our high-performing IT infrastructure team. In this pivotal role, you’ll design, implement, and manage local and wide area networks that power both our on premise data centers and cloud presence at Marcus. You’ll take ownership of system configurations, lead installations, maintain network performance, and drive upgrades that ensure security, reliability, and scalability across our enterprise. What you will be doing:
- Design, configure, and maintain network systems, infrastructure, and equipment
- Oversee daily network operations across the organization, ensuring stability and performance
- Monitor network utilization, performance, and capacity; recommend and implement improvements
- Manage network security, including firewall rule modifications, testing, and remediation
- Support LANs, WANs, Internet/intranet systems, and circuit provisioning for new installations or upgrades
- Ensure up-to-date network documentation and contribute to technical standards development
- Assist with disaster recovery planning and implementation
- Provide technical support for cross-division projects and mentor team members
- Other duties as assigned
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering strongly preferred
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in a network/systems-focused role required
- Advanced knowledge of Cisco, Cisco Nexus, and Palo Alto Firewall configuration preferred
- Strong understanding of the following technologies:
- Solid knowledge of LAN / WAN protocols
- Wireless, telecommunications, and networking knowledge
- Data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport)
- Industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
- Solid knowledge of LAN / WAN protocols
- Proven expertise in network design, architecture, topology, and related technologies
- Excellent troubleshooting, incident identification, verbal communication and written skills
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively, prioritize under pressure, detail oriented and meet deadlines
- Willingness to work on-site during regular hours (5 days a week), with limited travel and occasional extended availability
