Assistant Director of Events
The Pfister Hotel is looking for an Assistant Director of Events who will contribute to our hotel’s legacy and superior events. In this role, you are the advocate for the client, your team, and overall hotel operations. You will partner with the Director of Events to achieve superior business results in all areas including; outstanding guest service, team member engagement, strategic leadership and talent development, culture, innovation, developing repeat and event operations.
Built in 1893, The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee has been a hotel icon for nearly 130 years. As one of the best hotels in Milwaukee and the Midwest, we continue to celebrate a grand tradition of gracious service and impeccable style. The Pfister Hotel has received AAA Four Diamond hotel status for 46 consecutive years. The hotel is one of only 11 properties throughout North America to maintain the AAA Four Diamond designation since the inception of the Diamond Rating program in 1976.
What you will be doing:
• Maintain a high level of professional appearance, demeanor and image of self and hotel.
• Handle group events as deemed necessary by the Director of Events. (ie. VIP, challenging groups, corporate meetings, etc.)
• Assist with overseeing the day to day operations of the Events Team
• Achieve goals set for the Events Department.
• Required to maintain high personal guest contact via telephone and in-person. This is to include periodic visits to guests holding functions at the property.
• Assist with the responsibility for cost and profit goals as it relates to the event operation.
• Supervises Event department staff to include hiring, training, development, counseling and disciplining of staff.
• Keep up to date of current market trends.
• Attend community and business events including joining local/national organizations.
• Implements and supports hotel operation policies and procedures while working within union contract guidelines.
What we are looking for:
• Prior experience in Events, Catering and/or Convention Services (3-5 years)
• Prior experience in a luxury hotel environment preferred.
• 4-year degree in Hospitality related field preferred
• Ability to adapt to quick changes and creative problem solving skills
• Budgeting experience administration
• High degree of organization and motivation
• Strong project management skills
• Previous Delphi experience preferred
• Ability to analyze client needs and negotiate pricing
