Assistant Director of Human Resources
The Pfister Hotel is seeking an exceptional, people-centric Assistant Director of Human Resources to support HR operations and associate engagement. This leadership role partners closely with hotel leaders to cultivate a best-in-class associate experience through strategic oversight of employee and labor relations, onboarding, compliance, and talent development initiatives. What you will be doing
· Partner with the Director of Human Resources to implement HR initiatives and support hotel objectives in alignment with business goals.
· Oversee the recruitment and selection process for management positions, including job requisitions and employment offers for non-Executive Committee roles, while providing guidance and support to the HR Generalist on hourly recruitment efforts.
· Coordinate and facilitate associate onboarding, ensuring a positive, engaging new-hire experience.
· Facilitate New Hire Orientation and the Accelerating Excellence program to support associate development and organizational culture.
· Serve as the Marcus Connect Administrator, providing system support, troubleshooting, and guidance to managers and associates.
· Support associate relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, workplace investigations, and terminations, while ensuring consistent application of company policies and practices.
· Assist with labor relations activities, including responding to union grievances and maintaining productive relationships with union representatives.
· Implement and communicate policy updates, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), attendance policies, and employee handbook revisions.
· Provide manager self-service support by educating and coaching leaders on HR policies, procedures, systems, and best practices.
· Monitor and promote compliance with required safety and security training programs.
· Ensure adherence to all Marcus policies, procedures, audit requirements, and compliance standards.
· Supervise and support the HR Generalist, providing coaching, development, and direction to ensure effective delivery of HR services.
· Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
Position Requirements
· Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including at least 2 years in a management or supervisory role; hospitality experience preferred.
· Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
· Strong knowledge of employee relations, labor relations, performance management, workplace investigations, and employment law compliance.
· Experience handling disciplinary processes, conflict resolution, terminations, and union grievances.
· Demonstrated experience coaching and supporting managers on HR policies, procedures, and employee-related matters.
· Experience facilitating onboarding, orientation, training programs, and associate development initiatives.
· Proficiency with HRIS platforms and HR technology
· Strong understanding of policy administration, standard operating procedures, compliance requirements, and audit standards.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence leaders, and maintain credibility across all levels of the organization.
· Proven leadership skills with experience supervising, coaching, and developing team members.
· Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
· Union experience is strongly preferred.

Job Type: Salary, Exempt
Pay Rate: $80,000 – $90,000 annually, based on experience
