Marcus Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Corporate Director of Human Resources, Operations to join our growing HR team. Reporting to the Vice President of HR, this hands-on, strategic leader will play a key role in fostering an associate-centric culture across the Marcus Hotels & Resorts division. The Director of HR Operations will serve as a critical link between corporate HR strategy and property-level execution, ensuring alignment and forward-thinking practices throughout the organization.

As a seasoned HR generalist, this role will provide guidance to HR teams and operational leaders across multiple properties on a wide range of HR topics, including associate relations, coaching and counseling, performance management, compliance, benefits, compensation, and process design. This position will play a critical role in advancing our HR infrastructure while actively promoting a culture of growth, accountability, and engagement. This opportunity is based out of our corporate office in downtown Milwaukee.

What you will be doing: 

  • Advise property HR teams and General Managers on associate relations, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness, balancing compliance with compassion.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve divisional HR policies, procedures, and processes that are scalable, compliant, and culture-forward.
  • Create a culture of continuous feedback, coaching, and accountability.
    Engrain the Marcus Hotels & Resorts mission, vision, and values into day-to-day HR practices, promoting engagement and a strong sense of belonging.
  • Provide broad HR support for properties and corporate associates in areas such as compliance employee relations, performance management, benefits guidance, and basic compensation planning.
  • Partner with corporate HR leads in talent acquisition, training and development, benefits, and compensation to ensure consistent application of programs.
  • Provide guidance and backup support for HR technology platforms and systems, ensuring efficient and user-friendly experiences across the division.
  • Serve as a flexible resource for field properties without HR support, stepping in as needed to ensure continuity and effectiveness.
  • Lead or support key initiatives and special projects that align HR strategy with business goals.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

What we are looking for:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Hospitality, or a related field preferred
  • 7–10 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a multi-unit hotel or hospitality environment
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with a strong emphasis on Excel
  • Hands-on experience with HR systems and technology required
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities
  • Demonstrates high level of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and polished personal presentation
  • Accurate with numbers and experienced in budgeting and financial analysis
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
  • Willing and able to travel as needed; must work on-site at the corporate office and/or property locations 5 days a week
