Director of Engineering
The Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh has an exciting opportunity to lead the Engineering Department as Director of Engineering.
The Director of Engineering acts as the most senior leader in the Engineering and Maintenance department.
· The Director of Engineering oversees all Engineering and Maintenance operations. The Engineering team is also responsible for safety and security initiatives on-property.
· Will work closely with General Manager, Director of Rooms and other Department Leaders.
· Ensure the hotel is staffed with trained maintenance and engineering professionals who deliver high quality results.
· Ensure team is following all safety procedures, lock out tag out, OSHA compliance and all policies.
· Chair of property Safety Committee.
· Attend any and all training that is necessary to perform job, learn new systems or be in company or building compliance.
· Organize and conduct departmental communication meetings and trainings as necessary.
· Operate, maintain and/or repair equipment, including but not limited to pumps, boilers, chillers, HVAC, painting, electrical, mechanical, lighting, plumbing.
· Accountable for all Engineering and/or functionality-related guest requests.
· Attend weekly capital meetings and report on project status to ensure timely coordination and completion.
· Establish and maintain relationships with vendors.
· Lead effective contract negotiation efforts with third party partners to manage costs and expectations of service
· Oversee guestroom and other preventative maintenance programs.
· Utilize Quore platform to log and track Work Orders and PM programs.
· Ensure all required building inspections are up to date and compliant.
· Be IHG Green Engage property champion, leading efforts to reduce consumption and waste.
· Oversee property key control program and generate lock interrogations as needed.
· Accountable for successful results on annual safety and security consultant audit.
· Ensure building is staffed with at least one maintenance attendant per shift.
· Recruit and interview for Maintenance and Engineering open positions.
· Hold regular team meetings to build strong culture and drive performance.
· Develop and document Engineering associates as needed.
· Responsible for scheduling, payroll and purchasing needs for Engineering Department
· Ensure all finance and accounting duties are timely with regards to invoices, ordering, POs, etc.
· Maintain par stock of materials needed for operations/repairs/maintenance.
· Maintain accurate logs of all equipment tests/proper requisitions/timely requests for any needed supplies.
· Maintain healthy partnership with People & Culture and all associates/leaders.
· Be both a team player and respected leader in the eyes of all associates.
· Attend all hotel meetings as requested/invited.
· Be on-call for any building or safety emergencies.
· Responsible for other duties and projects as assigned by General Manager.
What You Bring
· Must be able to read and interpret documents to include: Blueprints/Schematics, Procedure manuals, OSHA standards such as LockOut/TagOut, SDS, etc.
· Possess the individual ability to troubleshoot, repair and/or maintain all of the following:
o Physical building to include all FF&E
o A/C and refrigeration equipment
o Electrical systems
o Mechanical equipment (i.e. motors, starters, pumps, fans, etc.)
o Plumbing and drains
o Pneumatic and electronic systems and controls
o Fire Alarm and Life Safety equipment
· Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Able to work independently and as a member of a team.
· Possess analytical skills in order to be able to assess and identify problems and then implement solutions.
· Represent the hotel and company in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
· Must be able to safely use hand and power tools.
· Must be able to work any shifts, as needed.
