The primary responsibility of this position is accounting and record keeping for the Grand Geneva main business unit.  This manager will safeguard the assets of the Resort and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting.  This manager will be responsible for compliance with all Resort, Marcus corporate policies and procedures, state & federal laws and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Practices and requirements within the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.  This key individual will act always to ensure and improve the growth and profitability of the Resort.


Key Responsibilities - Overview:

  • Daily supervision, training and development of accounting staff – income auditor and general cashier.
  • Manage daily cash & revenue balancing and controls through use of resorts property management, daily reporting system and accounting systems.
  • Supervise general accounting tasks as they pertain to wholly owned, managed and association accounting; requires a command of external and internal accounting controls.
  • Approval of Purchase Orders for Grand Geneva, Timber Ridge and other Business units as needed; ensure maintain all accounting controls.
  • Manage monthly financial closing process for the Grand Geneva and Timber Ridge business units and coordinate with closings for other entities (1 fiscal and 4 calendar associations); ensure both revenues and expenses follow all management agreement structures.
  • Manage monthly and annual food & beverage inventory process for Grand Geneva and Timber Ridge business units.
  • Manage quarterly retail inventory process for Grand Geneva and Timber Ridge business units.
  • Manage Annual China, Glass, Silver, Linen, Uniform inventory process for Grand Geneva and Timber Ridge business units.
  • Monitor China, Glass, Silver, Linen, Uniform balance sheets accounts for the Grand Geneva and Timber Ridge business units.
  • Manage daily classification of revenue and tax postings from core systems to daily reporting software,  and assist the Staff Accountant with reconciliation of all sales and use taxes for the resort. Ensure updates to core systems for any anomaly’s identified.
  • Oversee the preparation, filing and distribution of all resort licenses and permits which is managed by Accounts Payable, Corporate Legal and the Staff Accountant.
  • Cover the responsibilities of the Resort Controller and Area Director of Finance in their absence.
  • Ensure required reporting / documentation and corporate accounting policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Manage and coordinate annual Marcus CAO audits for Grand Geneva and Timber Ridge business units.
  • Prepare annual associate reviews and career pathing for direct reports.
  • General office management
  • Identify system conflicts and directly resolve these conflicts with approved system change documentation by accounting management.
  • Identify and present process and system improvements to accounting management.
  • Complete various management reports as required by accounting management depending on the needs of hotel operations.
  • Complete various other accounting tasks and duties as required by Resort Controller and / or corporate accounting management.






  1. Experience in past accounting management role preferred. 
  2. An accounting degree or hotel management degree preferred.
  3. Must be computer literate and embrace learning new softwares.
  4. Mastery knowledge of Excel and other MS-Office suite products.
  5. Familiarity of property management systems, point of sale systems, timekeeping systems, inventory systems, accounting systems.  Currently Opera, Simphony, ADP, Dataworks, Profitsword/Peoplesoft.
  6. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks.
  7. Must have a thorough working knowledge of hospitality accounting department procedures.
